BACKGROUND
The Rotary Residential College is on land leased from Kent Street
Senior High School. The idea of the college was generated by the
constant requests to metropolitan Rotary clubs for accommodation
for high school students wanting to study special courses only
provided at city based high schools.
With the help of Federal, State and Local Governments,
the corporate sector and guided by some Individual Rotary Clubs,
this project
is now a reality and has been operating successfully since 1991.
Over the past twelve years some 450 boarders have availed themselves
of the accommodation and they have come from nearly 100 country
towns.
OVERVIEW
The Rotary Residential College near the heart of Perth caters
for two needs because it is a holiday and seminar facility, and
during the school term it houses country students studying special
courses in Perth.
In the landscaped complex nestled among towering pines, there
are 63 single, well appointed rooms with their own ensuite bathroom,
and with linen provided and laundered.
Chefs expertly prepare excellent and nutritional meals.
HOLIDAY & SEMINAR FACILITIES
Seminars, meetings, lectures, sporting groups, functions, catering
or simply holidays are perfectly suited to the Rotary Residential
College. The surrounding acres are peaceful, yet it is five minutes
from Perth and close to public transport, major shopping areas,
churches, restaurants, hotels, a major sporting centre and Curtain
University.
RECREATION - STUDY - COMPUTER ROOM
The hub of
the large complex is a large area which can be used for meetings
or relaxing. A quiet corner is set aside as a Computer
Lab for the use of students.
The Managers live on the premises, which is protected by a state
of the art surveillance and security system as well as a fire
detection system.
Individuals and groups can be catered for in school holidays.
COUNTRY STUDENTS
The Rotary Residential College opens up a world of opportunities
for students from country areas. The resident families provide
stable supervision and care for the students who go to a variety
of high schools around Perth.
Firm guidelines are set down to ensure that there is no disruption
for individual students working hard for their special courses.
Students benefit from the family atmosphere, but their own privacy
in self contained rooms with bed, desk, storage, shower and toilet.
